🚀 What’s New in Women’s Auto Sports Racing
Women’s motorsport is experiencing a significant boom, driven by several key initiatives that are creating better pathways and more opportunities for female talent:
* F1 Academy’s F1 Integration: The series’ growth has been massively boosted by running all its races in support of the FIA Formula One World Championship and the mandatory involvement of all ten F1 teams, who each sponsor a driver and run a car livery. This puts the drivers directly in the F1 paddock spotlight.
* Wider Support and Expansion: The F1 Academy grid has expanded to 18 cars for 2025, and the series is actively supporting the Champions of The Future Academy karting program. This is designed to identify and support young female drivers as early as the grassroots level, creating a crucial talent pipeline.
* Formula E All-Women Test: Formula E held a pioneering all-Women’s Test event to give elite female drivers unique experience in the cutting-edge GEN3 Evo electric race cars, showcasing a push for gender inclusivity in electric motorsport.
* Growth in Endurance Racing: Female participation and success are surging in categories like the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and GT racing, with all-female crews like the Iron Dames securing historic wins and greater representation across sportscar racing.
* Extreme E’s Equal Platform: The electric off-road series, Extreme E, continues to enforce its unique format of one male and one female driver per team, ensuring equal drive time and a visible platform for top female racers.
